RTW-Planning Updates

Sadly, due to time constraints, Jordan will have to be removed from our itinerary.  That was the one that had to go only because it came up during the initial research phase and appealed to us; it really hadn't been a destination or experience of our dreams.  And really I should say "my dreams" because if I'm honest this trip is for me and my husband is just amazing helping to make it happen (cue tiny fireworks of hearts and kissie lips)!

So here's a shout out to the awesomeness we hope to one day experience in Jordan: Wadi Rum Bedouin Camp-Out, The Dead Sea (b/c we couldn't go there and not), and Petra by candlelight, serenaded by the haunting music of the Bedouins at the Treasury.

Also, and we expected this, we won't have time to see all the things our hearts desire.  India and Vietnam and New Zeland, Galapagos, and Tibet/China are places we'd love to experience but deserve much more time than we have this go.  We'd like to see the whole of each of these countries so I feel like each will be its own adventure for us in the future.  And Tahiti, even if only to have the honeymoon we originally planned.

We had begun to toy with the idea of Chiang Rai instead of Chiang Mai-or possibly both b/c the Four Seasons experience in Chiang Rai looks unbelievable.  Check it out.  We "went back to basics" to remind ourselves our purpose for going to Thailand which is Yee Peng in Chiang Mai but something is drawing me to that Golden Triangle!  That said....Im still hoping for some time in Bangkok.

I have been wondering exactly *when* we should start making reservations for our journey.  Seems getting the flights set is more important than lodging, except when you know you want to stay somewhere in particular.  Such as:

Thailand

Puerto Rico

Our other lodgings are still somewhat undecided.

Nepal
Still working on itinerary but in my notes so far I have Dwarika's, Hotel Country Villa, and Thamel Eco Resort.

Palau
Not sure

Iceland
Considered Ion but I like the idea of staying toasty in warm water while watching the lights dance in the night sky (hopefully! crosses fingers! begs please please please please!) and it looks like only a small portion of the water here is exposed to the sky-most of it is covered.

Patagonia
We are considering an amazing all-inclusive experience with Remota, eplora, Estancia Cristina, or H20.  Orrrrr we have considered taking a 2-week cruise around the southern half of South America between Buenos Aires and Santiago through the Strait of Magellan, Cockburn Channel, Beagle Channel, Glacier Alley, along Cape Horn, through Canal Sarmiento, the Chilean Fjords, and with stunning scenery and wildlife at stops in Montevideo, Uruguay, the Falkland Islands, Ushuaia, and Puerto Montt. Two totally different experiences.  And either way hoping to spend time on Easter Island.

Check out our pinterest page to see all sorts of sights and activities we are considering!
